Ready for First Grade

Yesterday was Jadyn and Grant's last day of school. Jacob and Grace had to go one more day (due to power outages at their school) and were not very happy about it. When Grant got up this morning, he got dressed and came downstairs and announced that he was ready to go. I asked him where? He said, "To first grade." I guess he is ready. Great job, Mrs. Howe! Look out, Mrs. Carpenter! This boy ALWAYS makes life more interesting!

Go Diva

Yesterday Jacob's class had a retirement party for his teacher. He was telling me about it after school and said that I would have loved it. I asked why. He said his teacher got "go diva" chocolate. Go diva? Oh......godiva chocolate. Love that kid!

Wow!

I have a lot to update you on, but what happened tonight simply cannot wait to be told. I was laying with Grace, putting her to bed, and she asked if she could pray for Greg. Of course, you can! Greg has a big interview tomorrow - he is interviewing for his old boss's job. So she prayed and WOW! was I blown away. She prayed for Greg to be ready, for him to be calm, for him to know what to say. Then she asked for him to know God's will, and if this wasn't God's will, that Greg would know that and accept it. But if it was God's will, for Greg to accept that and to work hard at it. What a blessing- to have your child ask to pray for their dad, then listen to them commit their dad to their FATHER! WOW!!!!

Sleeping Bear Dunes

Memorial Day weekend we camped at the Platte River Campground at the Sleeping Bear Dunes. It was our first time in a National campground. It was very nice and clean and quiet. Our campsites were nice and snuggled in light woods, that had cool paths for the kids to run and play, but that also meant we had mosquitoes. That was the bad part. They were terrible. The bathrooms were clean and not many sites shared the one near us (very near), despite the fact that the campground was full. Showers were always hot and available, most likely because you had to pay for them. $1 for a 6 minute shower. We climbed the dunes, took the Pierce Stocking scenic drive, went to the Glen Haven days and participated in a lifesaving drill from the 1900s, rented a boat and kayak, played in Lake Michigan and had a simply GREAT time. Greg made it extra special for us by demonstrating all the skills he never learned in the navy because he was on a plane. Maybe a boat might have been a good idea? The weather was absolutely perfect! We woke up early to leave this morning as it was overcast and looking like rain. As we were heading out of the park, it started to sprinkle. God certainly blessed us on this trip.
